For You I Will

For You, I Will

I spent some much needed time in God’s word this morning. I have been slacking off lately and instead of spending time in the Bible, I have been busy with family but also wasting time binging on pointless TV shows and other time wasting activities. So this morning I set out to get back on track. I’m one of those people that needs a plan when I go about reading the Bible. I don’t like to just open it at random and just start wherever. I find it much more productive if I pick a book, start at the beginning and follow it through to the end. I’ve read almost all of the books of the Bible (some a lot more than once) but one book I’ve never seemed to dig into for any meaningful length of time is Psalms. It just seemed like a daunting book to start, one because it’s long and two because it’s poetry and lyrics and that was never really my favorite type of reading. This morning though I figured it was time to start what I had been putting off for so long, and I am so glad I did!

Psalms is all about praying to, giving thanks to, and worshipping God in the ways that He deserves. After my study time, I finished in much the way that I usually do by praying and asking for guidance and the right words to speak to you all, my audience. This morning though I sat a few extra moments in silence with my eyes still closed after my prayer. It’s often in the quiet moments that I’ve found I can hear God the loudest.

I don’t always hear from God in a literal sense, but this morning in my silence the words “for you, I will.” came clearly into my head. I’m not the type of person that believes in coincidence anymore so for me, this was God clearly answering my prayer for help and guidance with a firm “for you, I will”. What an amazing thing to hear! I wish that it was always that clear of an answer when I ask for guidance.

For you, I will..... This answer to a prayer got me thinking about all of the things that God has done for me, and let me tell you, that list is quite long!. It also got me thinking about what I do for Him in return for all of the things he does for me, that list however was not as impressive. These thoughts inspired me to come up with a “psalm” of my own to look back on and remind myself of all the wonderful things that God has done and continues to do but also to remind myself of the things that I have committed in my heart to do for Him in return. I wrote this as a dialogue with God speaking first and me in return.

For You I Will

For you, I will give freedom.
For You, I will choose wisely.

For you, I will provide.
For You, I will freely give.

For you, I will conquer.
For You, I will boast of Your triumphs.

For you, I will show mercy.
For You, I will love all.

For you, I will part the seas.
For You, I will cross seas to spread Your love.

For you, I will stop time.
For You, I will not waste a moment.

For you, I will move mountains.
For You, I will shout from the mountaintop Your wonder.

For you, I will do miracles.
For You, I will believe that You are capable of all things.

For you, I will die on a cross.
For You, I will lay my life down and follow You.

For you I will rise again.
For you I will praise always.

I can’t even begin to comprehend the love that God has for us and all of the wonderful things that he did, does, and will continue to do. As I continue along in Psalms I hope I continue to be as inspired as I was today and I hope I can use my inspiration to inspire others too. What have you all been reading lately? Has God inspired you in any way recently? Share with me below in the comments!

15 Minute Challenge!

As a foster mom, I’m always trying to come up with ways to get to know the kids that come into our home a little better. A few months ago, I decided that I would give each child 15 minutes of uninterrupted one on one time each night to talk, play, read a story or whatever else they wanted to do with just the two of us. 15 minutes may not seem like a lot of time but between cleaning, cooking, school, homework, visits with parents and other things scheduled, 15 minutes of one on one time was all that we could realistically manage in our busy schedule. Over the course of a week worth of 15 minute appointments with each kid, I was spending an hour and 45 minutes of one on one time with each kid. It is a time that both me and the children look forward to and they have let me know that this time is valuable to them and makes them feel that they are important and loved. It gives us a time to reflect on the good and bad of the day and build a bond that may only last a few months, but that t...

Mothering Through Infertility

Infertility is no joke. As a woman who deals with this myself, I know that the struggle is real! If any of you reading this also face this struggle, I'm here for you. I want to start out by saying that you are incredibly strong and I hope that this blog post speaks to you in a loving and sincere, but truthful way. I pray to have the words to speak boldly but tenderly because I understand just how touchy of a subject this can be for a lot of us.  Just know that I am coming from a place of love and truth and that what I have written this week are things that have been put on my heart over the last few years and even more so recently. I am writing this blog post as a reminder to myself but also for those of you that need to hear it as well. The question that has been on my mind most recently is this, when does wanting children go from being a prayer request to an idol that keeps one from fully loving and giving their attention to God? For as long as I can remember I have want...

My Relationship with Jesus

After last weeks post, some of you may be curious about how I plan to grow my relationship with Christ. Well I’m happy to tell you that this is exactly what my blog will be about. My goal is to share my journey to becoming on fire for Christ again and through my journey I hope to inspire others to look at their relationship with Christ As well. Before I get into talking about how I am improving my relationship with Christ, I would like to explain what it means to me to have a relationship with Christ. I know that I have at least a few family members and friends who do not know Christ but are still choosing to read this blog to support me and my venture. For them, I want to explain what it means to be a Christian and why I have chosen to follow Christ so passionately.  I know that before I became a Christian I used to think it was ridiculous  for anyone to believe in God and Jesus and I know I’m not the only one who has ever had ill informed thoughts about Christianity. ...
