Challenge of the Month November 2019

November is such a beautiful month! The leaves are falling and the air is crisp and filled with the fresh smell of apples, pumpkins, and the musky scent of smoke from the wood stoves that are starting to be lit. It is a time of thankfulness and a time of preparation for the coming holidays. It’s also a time where we are moving our activities inside for the winter. For me, there’s no better season! I love to curl up by the fire with my yarn or my bible and just soak in the heat and start preparing for the bitter cold of winter that is fast approaching.

God has provided for me and my family as well as other families though our fostering this year. When we didn’t think we would be able to make it through another day emotionally, financially, and physically, God has responded and has blessed us beyond our needs. Though we have faced many struggles this year, God as been so good to us through it all.

It often just takes a second to turn our day from good to bad so consider the struggles you have faced but also consider the blessings and growth that have come through those struggles. We may not know what God’s  full plan is for our lives but Romans 8:28 says this “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

‭ As we start preparing our homes for family gatherings, feasts of plenty, and the coming holiday season, I challenge you all this month to give thanks for everything that you have received this year. Look past your struggles and try to focus on what God has bless you with so far this year. What prayers have been answered? What miracles have you witnessed? Who has been a blessing to you? I look forward to hearing from you all in the comment section below!

  1. Many people in our family have had a tough year but I am so thankful that we have more time to spend with your mom and my hubby(your uncle) because she was blessed with a new kidney and he just got two stents put in for his heart to keep it working for at least a few more years. I am also happy that you found a way to deal with your grief that will help so many other people.

15 Minute Challenge!

As a foster mom, I’m always trying to come up with ways to get to know the kids that come into our home a little better. A few months ago, I decided that I would give each child 15 minutes of uninterrupted one on one time each night to talk, play, read a story or whatever else they wanted to do with just the two of us. 15 minutes may not seem like a lot of time but between cleaning, cooking, school, homework, visits with parents and other things scheduled, 15 minutes of one on one time was all that we could realistically manage in our busy schedule. Over the course of a week worth of 15 minute appointments with each kid, I was spending an hour and 45 minutes of one on one time with each kid. It is a time that both me and the children look forward to and they have let me know that this time is valuable to them and makes them feel that they are important and loved. It gives us a time to reflect on the good and bad of the day and build a bond that may only last a few months, but that t...

Stepping Out and Standing Strong in Faith

As I’ve come into my adult years, I’ve begun to realize that making decisions and sticking to them is not as easy as it once was. It used to be so simple to have dreams that were bigger than myself. I would ponder constantly of all the wonderful things I was going to do with my life and nothing was too ambitious for me.  It was like looking into the future through rose colored glasses. Everything seemed so nice and shiny, nothing bad could ever happen. I only saw the good and looked forward to whatever the future was going to bring. When is it that we lose that childlike faith and reliance on God? It seems that the older I get and the more twists and turns life throws at me, the more I gain a sense of what I believe to be wisdom in regards to how the world works. I have started to see that every action has consequences and sometimes making a decision can be scary even if I feel like I'm being called by God. The more “wisdom” I gain from the world though, the less faith I...

My Relationship with Jesus

After last weeks post, some of you may be curious about how I plan to grow my relationship with Christ. Well I’m happy to tell you that this is exactly what my blog will be about. My goal is to share my journey to becoming on fire for Christ again and through my journey I hope to inspire others to look at their relationship with Christ As well. Before I get into talking about how I am improving my relationship with Christ, I would like to explain what it means to me to have a relationship with Christ. I know that I have at least a few family members and friends who do not know Christ but are still choosing to read this blog to support me and my venture. For them, I want to explain what it means to be a Christian and why I have chosen to follow Christ so passionately.  I know that before I became a Christian I used to think it was ridiculous  for anyone to believe in God and Jesus and I know I’m not the only one who has ever had ill informed thoughts about Christianity. ...
